Blackjack is one of the most played and favorite casino poker games in the world. This is one of the first games that everyone knows about and learns to play partly because it is one of the easiest games to learn, it still however takes a lifetime to master the art of playing at 100%.
The history of Blackjack is a little unclear but the most widely accepted theory is that it evolved out of the other French games like French Ferme and Chemin De Fer. The game as we know it originated around the 1700's and has been in the United States since the 1800s. The name of Blackjack came from an early bet that paid the player 10 to 1 if the player got a Jack of spades and an Ace of spades, as the first two cards dealt. It wasn't until the early 1950s that the first book was published that gave players what is now known as the edge, where they could use mathematics to further their edge on the house and in turn raise the chances of winning against the dealer, but we all know that there are no definite ways to win all the time, it is still a game of chance.
The rules of the game are pretty simple and they are the first thing you should read before starting to play. The object of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. The first thing that you have to do is make a bet, the player has to make their bet and then their cards will be dealt. Generally one card is dealt face up and one card is dealt face down, the dealer gets the same configuration of cards. After all of the cards are dealt and on the table it is time for the player to look at their cards and determine whether their hand is close enough to 21 to beat the dealer or not. If the hand is close enough or they have 21 or Blackjack, the player 'stands', which means that they do not want any more cards. However, if the player doesn't have a hand that equals close enough to 21 they will take on another card or 'hit'. If the player goes over 21 with their 'hit' it is called busting which means they lose their bet and the game is over. These are the very basic rules of the game, there are other options in the game like double down, which is to double the bet made and only get one more card; and split which means if two cards identical in numerical value are dealt with the first two cards players can split them into two hands with equal bets on both hands. |
